One year ago today, this wee little blog was born. Since then, with the gentle encouragement of a few kind readers and friends, what started as a tiny, modest blog has evolved to become what it is today.
When I started A Dash of Compassion last year, I wanted to celebrate vegan baking (and unbaking) in all its glory, and show the world that vegan food is delicious, creative and fun! But this long-time hobby has also become an art to be mastered. Now, I'm a little bolder in the kitchen, developing a sincere passion for experimenting with new ingredients and processes, and learning from my successes and failures along the way.
This blog has also helped me rediscover my love for photography and develop my own voice in the world, and was the catalyst for vegan outreach endeavours. More importantly, I have become part of a compassionate community of individuals, locally and worldwide, who not only share a passion for delicious food, but also genuinely care for each other, who lend an ear, encourage one another, speak up, and have helped me create a space where I feel safe and accepted, willing to log my recipes and put my work on public display.
Of course, this isn't a proper birthday party unless there are gifts, and so I'd like to give you one! Just for fun, one lucky reader will receive a Wilton mini doughnut pan because I love mine. If you'd like one, just leave a comment before Monday, August 8 at midnight, and tell me what you want to see in the coming year on A Dash of Compassion. More reviews? More raw recipes? More giveaways? Don't be afraid to tell me your thoughts.

I love your recipes so far, so I say keep them coming! Have you ever thought about incorporating more savoury dishes?
Happy Blog birthday! I've loved reading your blog and look forward to what's to come...I love it as it is especially recipes of any kind- raw or cooked :) Thanks for the chance to win the pan,I've been wanting one for ages.
happy birthday! ours is coming up too!
Your blog is so lovely after only a year! Happy Birthday and what a nice giveaway. I'm a big fan of any and all raw recipes, so I'd love to see more of those but basically keep doing what you're doing.
I just wanted to say, I'm so happy you started this blog. You have shared amazing vegan recipes with the world and continue to inspire more people to eat a vegan diet. I have learned a lot from you over the past year and I can't wait to see what the future holds for A Dash of Compassion - I'm hoping a cookbook is coming soon!
I love your recipes and hope that will continue to be the focus of your blog. Happy Blogging Birthday!
I haven't read blogs in weeks, due to the fact that I have had two teenage stepdaughters visiting! However, I wanted to stop by to wish you a very happy bloggie birthday! More of the same is fine with me - the posts are always lovely! Hope to see you at Vida Con!
happy blog birthday! :D i love your vegan baking :D
I'm all about the recipes in general, but anything you decide to post will be great. :)
Congrats on the blogoversary! The first is often the most difficult to get to.
happy birthday to a dash! your recipes are incredible and photography is amazing - hope there are many more birthdays to come...
I'd love to see more of baked goods like that epic six-layer cake you made for Yum Universe's birthday contest... I kind of have an insatiable sweet tooth. Are there many ways to make intriguing vegan alcoholic drinks? (I'm thinking not so much of veganising "omni" drinks like White Russians as I am of something truly vegan, like some sort of alcoholic agave-kale drink or something, haha.) That would be an interesting experiment too that would certainly be worth taste-testing!
More recipes, please! I'm always looking for new things to make. Happy Blog Berfday! :-)
happy blog-birthday! I guess more raw / sugar free desserts...can you ever have too many? :)
Happy blog birthday! Your recipes are very original and look beautiful. So sad that I can't find some of the ingredients you use. I would love it if you would some time bake delicious (crunchy) cookies with easy to get but healthy ingredients (can't get Earth Balance here but I have coconut oil and coconut sugar!). Or some apple pie; or what about a healthy kind of 'quiche'. And some delicious sauces or dressing for vegetables?
Happy birthday to Dash of Compassion!
I just discovered your blog thanks to YumUniverse and now I added it to my favorites. I think I have a lot to discover in the archives, so what I want for the next year of Dash of Compassion, is just more of Dash of Compassion :-) Or one thing : more raw recipes, because I found these amazing!
Recipes are my favorite blog content and yours are amazing - I would love to see more of them!
Happy blogiversary! I have loved reading your blog and trying your recipes! Would love to see more lunch/dinner ideas!
Woo hoo! What a great giveaway! I would love to see some vegan baking (or un-baking) cookbooks reviewed on this blog. Knowing that a recipe is tried and tested beforehand is always helpful.
More giveaways! Who doesn't love a good giveaway, right?
Congrats on your first year of blogging!
I would love to see more of your individual serving raw desserts!
I'd love to see more recipes! happy birthday
happy blogaversary!! Thanks for the giveaway - i've always wanted to tryout the mini donut pans.
I'd love to see more recipes (raw or not raw:)) and more cooking/baking related giveaways!

Happy blog bday! Thanks for the giveaway :) I would love more savory recipes :)
Happy blog birthday! You know I love your raw recipes and your raw challenges. Keep both of them coming!
I love your blog so much and i wouldn't change anything but what the heck, i'll give some input! I would love to see more giveaways! Always loved them and it makes me able to try things I haven't before or couldn't find where I live! Also if you add more posts about balance while trying to maintain weight that would be VERY helpful for me, and i'm sure to a lot of others :) I find that balance is my hardest asset I need to hold onto, because I find myself a few times a week going overboard and getting stressed
Happy Birthday to A Dash of Compassion! You're recipes look amazing. I just stumbled upon your page recently and have not had a chance to make any of your recipes yet. Definitely making your flourless almond ginger cookies ASAP! I know many of your raw recipes are flourless, but can you incorporate more flourless recipes into your blog? Love & thanks!
Congratulations on a year of blogging!
Like so many people, I'm looking forward to more recipes in the future.
I love your recipes! I always want to see more cookie recipes because I like to make cookies for my husband that I feel good about him eating.
