about

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. My name is Nicole and I’m a Canadian writer, editor, wife, and mother of two adorable rescue cats, Leola and Eli. I love animals too much to eat them, and I’ve discovered that teaching others through food is an effective vegan outreach tool—otherwise known as baketivism. I began developing wholesome, all-natural vegan recipes to inspire others to think differently about what they eat, and this blog is my growing collection of favourites.

In 2010, I had the opportunity to perfect my craft by completing the Vegan Baking Boot Camp Intensive training program at the Natural Gourmet Institute in NYC. In 2012, I became certified in plant-based nutrition through Cornell University and the T. Colin Campbell Foundation.

As a vegan for 14 years, I can tell you from experience that this lifestyle is not about restriction or deprivation—you won’t be doomed to a life of lettuce and tofu. A plant-based diet is abundant in wholesome, filling foods with exciting flavours, like nuts, seeds, beans, grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and even chocolate, all of which can be used to satisfy your hunger and cravings without harming your health, the environment or the animals.

If you enjoy healthy, whole-food-based desserts, please consider picking up a copy of my ebook, Tiny Treats (co-authored with Lisa Pitman). You can also find my recipes on a number of websites, so check out my press page.
